MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS
6TH GRADE THROUGH 8TH GRADE
Students are accepted throughout the school year to participate in our Basic Skills,
Comprehensive Studies, and Summer Learning program.
BASIC SKILLS: Reading and Math Development
Students receive academic instruction in one hour sessions, twice a week, in either
reading or math. Instruction is delivered at two grade levels. Entry level is determined by
test results from a nationally normed standardized test, and application instruction is
advanced to students current academic
curriculum to meet school curriculum expectations.
To achieve academic proficiency, we incorporate comprehensive materials to reinforce
instruction. Our goal is to
provide students with opportunity to become independent
learners.
When reading and math instruction
is required to remediate academic deficits,
students attend ninety minute sessions, twice a week. This provides, in most cases,
sufficient time to remediate academic deficits in reading and math
so that students can
pursue school curriculum expectations.
When students are having difficulty with a curriculum subject but otherwise have no
learning deficits, students receive academic instruction in one hour sessions, twice a week.
Fundamental skills to understand current concepts are taught, instruction is given to
complete curriculum assignments, review work is provided to maintain concepts, and
curriculum review is given
to prepare students for exams.
